Traveling is fun!!!!!
No, but really, I love my team and it was all worth it because now I am in Swaziland.
Currently, I’m sitting in the dirt outside my lovely home in Nsoko, Swaziland. We are in a rural area which means there are chickens, goats, and donkeys roaming freely across the dirt roads. I would probably compare them to squirrels in America. Not even kidding, a herd of goats just walked right by my feet!! A normal day at the Anchor Center base is waking up to the roosters crowing and children laughing on their way to school. How beautiful!!!! We get up and eat a lovely breakfast prepared by a variety of our squadmates, put on our knee length skirts, and head to ministry! Our ministry is a 10 minute walk down the road, and it’s one of Adventures in Missions’ many carepoints. A carepoint is a building where children can come and play, be discipled to, and eat. The Shepherd, Mzwandile, is the one who leads the children in discipleship! He is such a kind man who truly loves the Lord. There’s about 40 children in a classroom-like setting, and they’re the sweetest children you’ll ever meet. And man, do they love to sing!!!! My 5 teammates and I sing them different songs with out guitar and share some of our testimonies or favorite verses. After a few hours we either make a trip to the store in a Kombi, the local transportation, or head on home and take a nap.
In summary, I love Africa. I love my small town. I didn’t think I could ever feel so comfortable in a land so far far away. I’ve experienced so much of the Lord that I didn’t even know existed. You can see Him in everything here. The people. The sunsets. The mountains. The animals. Everything runs so slow here because people just like to enjoy their time. I’m so thankful that the Lord has given me the life I have, like how the heck am I in Africa right now!!!! We are here for another week and a half ish. Then a debrief in South Africa, and off to our next country of Lesotho!
Now from you guys, I ask specifically for the prayers of the people here. Swaziland has the largest percentage of people with HIV/AIDS in the world. Many children are left with one parent or become orphans because of this disease. Please pray to rebuke this from the land so that the people can thrive and rejoice in the Lord healthily. Please also pray for my squadmates. There are 51 of us living on this base and the spiritual warfare is real. The devil is attacking in ways that no one is used to back in our comfy homes in America. Just please pray for peace for my family of 51 that they will know that nothing, no fear, is greater than our Lord. Also, please pray for my sanity. No, not like I’m going insane, and technically I’m considered an extrovert, but sometimes I need my alone time, and that’s super hard to get here when you’re around people 99% of the time. Just pray that I find my rest in that. Also I’m in need of fundraising!! I’m still $4,000 short of being fully funded. Please pray that God will provide that for me, so there will be no need to worry while I’m on the field.
I have very little service or internet here, so if I’m not responding to you, you know why! Personally I love being disconnected, so I can really connect with the community I’m living in!!! Thank you for reading my first World Race update!! More to come 🙂
