I bought my backpack yesterday! It was a very interesting experience. I also bought an Airporter. Anybody know what that is? Because I had no idea something like that even existed, I had to google it to find out what it was! Sheesh, so many things I’m learning and it’s only just begun. I started my researching to figure out all the things I need (and all the things I don’t need) to pack. Trying to decide what sleeping bag I will sleep on for the next year or which backpack will hold everything I need for the year can be a little overwhelming! Sleeping pad suggestions anyone??
All of this makes me think of how different my life with be in 5 months. (Woah.)
I’m really excited to GO but I’m nervous to leave. I am so excited to travel the world and serve the people of different countries while telling them about Jesus! But I’m really going to miss my lovely little town of Deland. I can’t wait to meet my new “family” for the year and do life with them. However, I don’t like thinking about leaving my friends and family and missing out on being a part of their lives for a year.
In about five months I will be leaving all that is comfortable and routine and taking in the unexpected and random. I will be trading in my big comfy bed for a sleeping bag. My home for the next year will be a tent. Everything I own for the next year will be stuffed into a backpack. I’m trading my life of luxury for a life of abandonment.
While some days that freaks me out, I am ready for it, because I know that is where growth happens. Good thing God is going to be there for me through it all. I am already seeing how God is working through me and the World Race these past few months. Going through the process of fundraising and telling people about my new adventure has allowed me to have unexpected conversations with strangers and reconnect with old friends. I’ve been blown away by all the support encouragement and love I’ve already gotten. It has already been an amazing and humbling journey. God is good.
Guys, I have already MET AND PASSED my first goal of $5,000!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for all of your prayers and support!!!
