We had church up in the Andes Mountains.

Our host family of 7 and our team of 7, spent the day hiking up a mountain. We started in the morning, bright eyed and eager to go on yet another hike in Peru. With water and snacks packed in our backpacks, we were ready to go crush this mountain!

Ten minutes into it and I was already gasping for air. (Lollipops and bananas for the win!)

It was challenging.  It was beautiful and colorful. It was breath-taking.

We hiked through fields of wild flowers. We hiked through rocks and prayed we wouldn’t fall and slide back down. We stopped several times to enjoy the view (and let’s be real, to catch our breath). We hiked up the mountain for 3 hours.  The view was incredible.

We had church at the top of the mountain.

We sat down together in the grass, and as a family, we sang praises and gave thanks to the Lord. We also had communion. Communion in abundance. We didn’t just get a small piece of bread dipped in wine. Each of us got a full glass of wine and a whole pita bread. Jesus was with his close friends and they were eating a meal in abundance.

“Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them saying, ” Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:26-28

Jesus didn’t just give us a little piece of himself, He gave his whole self.

HE is enough.

HE is more than enough.

Jesus’ sacrifice continues to cover me over and over again. It is never ending. As I continued to eat the bread and drink the wine, I was continuously reminded of Jesus’ never ending love for me.

It has been a year full of experiencing church all around the world in a variety of different places, with so many amazing people I have come to love! Church is not a building, but a community. So beautiful.
