“Guys, if I were at home in the States on a Monday night like this I probably would be playing Fortnite.” my squad mate and brother in Christ Cy spoke over us after worship on Monday night. We had just gotten finished with squad worship that lasted about 2 hours. Every Monday we have worship team time, and since we live with our entire squad, we have full squad worship once or twice a month. This week, we did playlist worship. We all sat in a circle around a speaker singing and listening to about 4 different songs picked beforehand. After about 20 minutes, Tennessee prayed to close out the worship session. But it didn’t end there. Someone asked if we could all pray for a family member of theirs who was diagnosed with cancer. So all 50+ of us laid hands on her and prayed over her. And then someone else asked for prayer and we did the same. We just continued to share prayer requests and pray over people for the next hour and a half.
The World Race is living in a community you can be vulnerable with. A community that will help you bring things to the Lord that you may be struggling to bring to Him yourself. A community that builds you up, pushes you and will call you higher when you may not even realize you need to be. A community that will spend an hour and a half of their free time to actively bring other peoples’ hardships to the Lord.
After praying for family members, friends, and others, we went into a time of praise. We shared the amazing things God has been doing recently; family members coming to Christ, people being healed, restoration, etc. We ended the night by singing “Yes and Amen” by Housefires a second time. After that night, we all couldn’t stop smiling. We all couldn’t believe the community we were in and what God had just done in all of us. We went from a time of mourning for the hurt to praise for the continued faithfulness of the Lord.
“If I were at home in the States on a Monday night like this I probably would be playing Fortnite.” Same. But instead of doing that, I’m in Costa Rica with a group of amazing people getting the opportunity to spread the Good News to people who haven’t heard yet.
Thank you all for the support! My squad and I leave for Africa NEXT WEEK. We are sad to be leaving but very excited to walk into this completely new way for the Lord to work.
