Hey all! My name is Katie Ericks and I was born on March 28, 1998 in a small town in Northwest Indiana (but if people ask where I’m from, I’ll usually say close to “ChicAAAgo”). I just finished my second year at Trinity Christian College. I loved my school; the people, the environment. I was the high schooler who couldn’t wait to start college and have the “college experience”.
But God had a different idea in mind for me.
I’ve felt a pull towards missions for a while, but I always gave God a reason why I couldn’t go. “God, I really want to focus on college”, “God, I really don’t want to go out of my comfort zone”, “God, I’m in a really good relationship and I don’t want to leave now.”. I was so scared to get out of my comfort zone and follow Him, but His plans are so much greater than mine!
I first felt called to missions my junior year of high school. I went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with some students and faculty from my school. Throughout that week, I experienced God in a way I never had before. I’ve felt pushed to missions ever since then; to tell people about the love and grace of Jesus, to grow more in my relationship with God in a way I wouldn’t be able to if I was at home in college. I’m so excited to see what God has in store for my Squad and I as we start this journey together; through the fundraising, packing, training camp, the many travel days, and days out on the field. I can’t wait to see what God will do in us and through us when we give Him our undivided attention for 9 whole months.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read my blog! If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to get updates whenever I post a new blog! I’ll keep updating throughout this journey!
