Though I believe there is a time and season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3), leaving India was really difficult for me. I left feeling physically exhausted but spiritually and emotionally full. I fell in love with our ministry and the people we were able to pour into. My team and I were partnered with Jireh Children’s Home; a ministry that provides a safe Christian environment and educational opportunities for children who may not otherwise receive it. Sendmi and Morong Khaling the founders of this wonderful ministry are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. They have been operating solely off of faith for the last 14 years of their and continue to trust that God will provide for their every need. They aren’t a non profit organization, and they don’t have a sponsorship program for the children, they seriously live day by day and God puts people in their life who help meet their daily needs. It’s amazing! During our time there they were struggling to meet their basic needs such as paying rent and putting food on the table. At our evening prayer time, we asked God to show up, to take away any anxieties, and to provide a way for this family’s needs to be met. THE NEXT DAY… a random lady who happened to be a local school teacher received a business card of the children’s home. Led by the Holy Spirit, she sought out the home in hopes of donating what she could. Upon arrival Morong expressed their needs to her and she agreed to cover two months’ worth of rent AND take them to the grocery store to pick out whatever food they wanted. It was seriously like Ellen DeGeneres showed up at their doorstep. Crazy…
Throughout our time there, we were also able to host a week long Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the children of the home and the surrounding community, send our hosts on a well deserved dinner date, provide a new laptop for their business and ministry needs, a couple months’ worth of rent, and enjoy a movie/pizza night with the kids. This month was truly magical. Thank you to those who contributed to the children’s school funds and rent payments! God definitely put a fire in my soul this month as I poured out my heart into loving these kids. I would not be upset if He called me back to India in the future.
