Spiritual
warfare is real.
I
have experienced in small ways this year but never as much as this month.
In
Ecuador, I would wake up every morning at 3AM.
In
Bolivia, several of the YWAM staff would have attacks in their sleep.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is
not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the forces of evil in the
heavenly realms.
Sunday afternoon, Pastor asked if a few of
us would go with his wife to pray over a woman in the church who had called to
ask for prayer over a spiritual attack.
I volunteered along with 3 others and then he warned us that this was
real and that we would see things.
Umm. See what things?
Immediately,
thoughts came to my mind. Am I ready? Am
I spiritually strong enough to cast out demons?
We
walked to her house about 15 minutes away. In front of her house, was an odd straw hut connected to an old white
building with creepy broken down doors.
As
soon as we walked in her house I could feel something that my spirit didnt
like. We sat down and she started
telling Mana Angelica (Pastors wife) what was going on. Because they were speaking in Portuguese I
was not able to understand anything other than what I could gather from her
hand motions. It seemed that she was
sleeping and was awakened to something binding her legs.
We
all stood up in a small circle and started singing. About a minute into the
song, she took in a sharp deep breath and started laughing. We started praying harder. Then she started dancing. We prayed harder. She started beating her chest. We prayed harder. Then she started yelling at
Mana Angelica. Mana Angelica picked up
her phone and made a brief call, never stopping her prayer.
A
few minutes later, as I was praying I opened my eyes and the room was filled
with praying men that had come to help. This went on for 2 hours. Her dancing, beating herself and laughing. She would have times that she would go limp
and drop to her knees. She was quiet for a few minutes. I thought that it was
over. Then we would start singing again
giving praises to God. Then she would cock her head to the side and give a
grin. Nope. Not over.
After
praying again for quite a while, she went limp and dropped to her knees
again. Then she stood up and started
praising God, whereas before she was not able to.
Philippians 2:10 that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
her mother was a witch doctor and she was the only child. Once the mother died, she was supposed to be
the one to take over for her mother. When her mother fell ill and her witch craft was not able to heal
herself the daughter started searching and started going to this church. The old straw hut in her yard was where her
mom would practice her witch craft.
