This month is a little different. All of our guys are by themselves doing “manistry” and the girls are in different teams spread out all over Thailand. There are 15 of us girls working with SHE ministry this month. This is a ministry that offers another option for girls who want to get out of the bars. Phuket is a beautiful vacation destination but after you hear about what goes on in these bars, you will rethink bringing your family here. There are prostitutes on all the corners and streets. You can buy a girl that works in a bar for a week or for a night. We go into these bars and make friends with these girls and tell them that there is another choice for them. They can come to the SHE house where they are offered English classes, hotel/restaurant training, and can learn to make jewelry and baked goods to sell.
Last night we all went out to the bars on Bangla Road. Denise and I were the intercession team. We walked all the way down the road praying and singing. I was having a hard time concentrating because of all the darkness that has a stronghold on this place. I can see dark images that are attached to people and dark images that walk around that street and those bars. So, Denise and I walked all the way down the road and sat down on some steps. I explained to her how I couldn’t concentrate on praying for anything while walking on that road. She looked at me and said, “We can use this as a gift. Do you want to use these dark images for the Kingdom?” Of course I wanted to but I was completely frustrated. She asked me where I saw something and said that she would go prophesy over that area. I told her that I saw some stuff over at a tent on the beach. So, we started walking down the beach to the tent. That is when we saw a woman sitting by herself on a bench. We approached her and soon realized that she was pretty drunk. Her name is Pay. She is a prostitute. She is lonely and feels abandoned. We asked her if she felt loved and she told us that she did not know what love was. This completely broke mine and Denise’s hearts. We told her that we knew a man that would love unconditionally, and that He wanted to be in her heart. She told us that she had seen the Jesus film, and she was very upset that the people killed him even though he didn’t do anything wrong. She called them some choice names and then showed us how they nailed Him to the cross. We told her about how much Jesus loves her. How He desires to be in her heart and how beautiful He thinks that she is. Then we tried to pray for her. We asked her if we could and she said yes. She said that she didn’t want to drink and smoke anymore. So Denise started praying for her, she asked Pay to repeat after her. She said, “alcohol, be gone in Jesus’ name!” and Pay repeated, “alcohol, be gone.” Denise said repeat it. Pays response was, “I already told it to leave my body.” The prayer continued with us speaking life and truth over Pay.
Then the most amazing thing happened. She looked at me and started speaking truth into my own life. First off she tells me that I look like a man (I think that she said this because I am so tall). Then she told me that I used to be so hard but now I am soft. I feel lonely a lot of time because I don’t know how to tell people how I am feeling. She said she could see all of this in my eyes. I just sat there with tears rolling down my face. God was speaking through a drunken prostitute to tell me how much He loves me and how He knows me on the inside and the outside. He knows my inner most thoughts and feelings. We ended the conversation by inviting her to come to the SHE house and have a different life. We told her that we loved her and we would see her soon.
This is just one of many stories that the girls I am with this month have to tell. We have been here less than a week and have already started so many relationships. I am excited about what God is doing in Phuket, Thailand! His glory is falling on all these bars.
