Each day on The World Race is like biting into a filled donut…you never quite know what you're going to get a taste of. Today was no exception.
"Today we kill and clean the kitchens, da" said Octav. How the all girl's team lucked out with this ministry opportunity, I have no clue. It was a great day filled with lots of screams, laughs, and team bonding.
If you haven't guessed already, kitchens refers to chickens. So, I have to admit, I got a little nervous when the axe came out. Killing a chicken is on my World Race bucket list, but I was expecting it to happen in like month 4 or 5. And here I am in the first week of ministry partaking in chicken slaughtering.
I think the shrill screams of my beloved teammate Carly will forever be engrained in my mind as I swung that axe. I chose a large white chicken with a red mohawk as my prey. It really was a beautiful chicken and I knew it would make for a delicious meal.
One thing I love about the team I'm on is that we can and do make everything fun. Even after the excitement of the chicken killing was over, we had so much fun with the tedious task of plucking the chickens. And I think we all had a sense of pride when chicken was served at dinner that night.
