“We are called to go and preach the good news.

To take each step in faith, stand courageously,

to preach the Savior of the world,

the perfect love and risen Lord,

We are called to go and tell to all creation everywhere…

We are called to go.”

These are lyrics to a song my amazing cousin Ashton wrote for me.

What she doesn’t know is this song plays in my head almost every day during ministry.

After being here only a short time in India, a certain verse kept replaying in my head …

“I will not fear, my God stands near with strength and might,

All that I need inside of me is to be a light,

And break the dark, turning who is lost to be found.”

This month we are straight up evangelizing.

Door to door, organization to organization, family to family…

I have never experienced anything like it and I absolutely loveeee it.

I have met so many people and seen so many beautiful sights.

Our first ministry day in India we went to a slum village.

When I say slum, I mean more so the rejected, poorer people groups.

The funny thing is, after being with them, I believe they are the richest.

The richest in love, happiness, contentment, and even more so, in Christ.

These families live in a one room “house,” just one.

It’s like taking your entire family, going into one of the smaller closets in your house, and genuinely living in it.

It’s your living room, your entertainment room, your bedroom, and even your kitchen.

Your entire family. In one room. Yet, so content.

I have never seen bigger smiles, or more love, in just one room.

We found out later that this people group is actually considered the “untouchables,”

and even more so, one of the most persecuted in India.

The funny thing is that God doesn’t care.

He is using this “untouchable” group to reach the nation of India.

The pastor of this village and his family, which was rather large (all living under the same roof);

understood the calling of The Lord better than anyone I have ever met.

It was truly inspiring. And it absolutely wrecked my world.

In that moment I began singing this song again in my head.

“We are called to go and preach the good news—

Amazing love came down to earth to die for me,

That I might live a life of love for all to see,

And make my life a living sacrifice for all.”

Take a moment, take all that in.

Because I still am.

I’m not an emotional person,

but The Lord has undoubtably anguished me for His people.

I can literally feel my heart being touched by India.

Faces imprinted forever on my heart.
