In the past several days, in addition to working with Iglesia Salim here in Palenque, I’ve had the opportunity to visit two villages outside of the town where local Mayan dialects are spoken. We usually ride in a taxi or in the back of a truck out to these villages, which is lots of fun and fits right in, as it’s how most locals get around, too.   🙂

The first visit was to Jerusalen (pronounced “her-ROO-sa-len”). Team g:racers has been there all week in support of a contact there. We visited their Friday night church service, where they had a visiting evangelist from Guatemala. My camera ran out of batteries (oops), but Jen Crane wrote an excellent blog about it!

My second visit was Saturday morning. Team 5-Alive and I had the opportunity to go with Eleazar, our Palenque host, to the village Estrella de Bethlehem (Star of Bethlehem). We had a blast putting on a program for the kids of the village, who flocked to us as if to a magnet! We had a great time and had the opportunity to pray for several women and children. We also walked to a house to visit a woman who had 8-day-old twins to pray for them. It was an incredible time. Through it all, our prayer is that our presence encourages the local believers. I don’t have time to write much more now, but Ali Page wrote a blog about it, so check it out here!
