“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us RUN with perseverance the race marked out for us,”
-Hebrews 12:1
Hello everybody! My name is Katie Rhodes, I am 18 years old, and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Hebrews 12:1 is my favorite Bible verse, so I thought it appropriate to include it in my ‘About Me’ section of my blog! Anyways, this blog is the place where you can stay updated on all of the shenanigans that I’m getting into during the course of my World Race journey. This includes fundraising, the time on the field, and even the debriefing period of when I get home. I will try to keep you all updated on all the goings-ons in my life!
So here’s some more about me, and my heart:
I have a passion for taking care of orphans, and letting people know that they are wanted, loved, and cared for. I also hold very close to my heart the desire to minister to and serve the victims of human/slave trafficking, and to be apart of that healing process as well. Other fun things that I’m passionate about: coffee, cute mugs for said coffee, music, and the show “Friends” on Netflix. (I’m also passionate about my ‘real-world’ friends as well, because they’re awesome, and they’re going to change the world.)
Some other random things about me: I play the flute and a little bit of guitar. I enjoy singing very loudly in my car, drinking more coffee than is probably healthy, and laughing so hard that I cry. My favorite colors are yellow and purple. I love tacos and mac’n’cheese, but my favorite food is Chinese food, and I love raspberry flavored iced tea. I just returned from a three-month long trip to Mexicali, Mexico where I lived in and served at an orphanage down there. It was so great! (You can read all about it in my blog titled “Mexico”!)
I am so so excited and thankful and praising God for giving me the amazing opportunity to go on The World Race: Gap Year. It’s gonna be a crazy ride, and I cannot wait.
