The ladies of The Unexpected, my team, felt The Lord calling us to visit a new city and search for contacts. We prayed, He gave us a city, and we made plans of how to get there. As soon as we figured out what city we were supposed to go to, the Father started throwing conenctions as us. Our friend knew this person who was a missionony with this person who we could meet with in that city and talk about being a possible contact for the World Race. It was seriously unbelievable how fast we knew exactly who He wanted us to go meet in the wonderful city of Kuldiga. It made my heart so happy!
And so we went. We literally got on a bus to go meet strangers who turned out to be such incredible people doing incredible things for The Lord.
One of those people was a Youth Leader named Matiss. Matiss is the leader of a program for the youth of Kuldiga named Connected. He has a vision for the city and is doing everything he can to see it come to light. I literally mean everything. while working a full time job and doing his best to be a godly husband and father. Crazy!
So Matiss/Connected’s vision has 4 arrows that all work together to empower the youth of today to give their lives for the Father. The first arrow is one that conencts the youth with God. This arrow represents worship, prayer, and bible studies. The youth of Kuldiga are encouraged to participate in these three every week in order to grow closer relationships with The Lord. Real, true, and deep relationships.
The second arrow connects the youth with other youth. They are taught about true community in which they can practice love and forgiveness. These youth are able to see what it really means to be brothers and sisters in Christ where they can support each other and grow together. Ah! I love it!
The third arrow is one that many people might not actually think about. Connecting the youth with the church. Matiss said it perfectly when he explained that for the most part, the youth are the doers and the older generation are the prayers. Think of the incredible things that could happen if both groups were working in harmony for The Lord. Ahh! I get goose bumps.
The final and fourth arrow is conencting the youth with the world. What?!!? The youth of Kuldiga are shown how awesome their Creator is, able to live in true Christ centered community, working together with the other generations in the church, and then they go out and share that with the world! Insane.
But for serious now, how amazing is that! Matiss can see how important the youth of this world are. He knows how much they can do for the Kingdom. And he is fighting for them.
So what can you do to help this incredible program? Prayer. Most of you are probably thousands and thousands of miles away from Kuldiga, Latvia. But guess what, prayer can cross that big of a distance. Our God is big enough to hear your prayers and answer them in a small city half way across the world. So I am asking you to join me in prayer. Pray for Matiss. Pray for his wife and daughter. Pray for Connected. Pray for the American missionaries Alesha and David who are working with Matiss. Pray for the youth of Kuldiga and the unbelievable things they are going to be able to do in this world.
Be a part of this. You aren’t going to want to miss out.
“If there is one hope I have in this world, one prayer for my life, is that people wouldn’t remember me or see anything great from my life but be pointed to the cross and the love that Jesus has for them.” -Alesha Nutter
