I think it can be easy for some people to look at this world
and think that there isnt a loving God present. They see the pain and poverty spread out all over the
nations and take it as proof. Innocent people get victimized, good people get cancer, children
die. To the untrained eye, it
might actually seem like there isnt a greater being right there the whole
time. A personal and loving God
fighting right beside each and every one of them. I get it. Ive even been there a few times in my life where
it all just didnt make sense. But
as soon as I opened my eyes to the Creator, I was truly able to see how My God
Fights.

He Fights For The Heart.

As you know, my second month on the Race was spent in the
African bush. Physically, it was
exhausting. Emotionally, it was
draining. Spiritually, it was
actually an enormous blessing. My
Daddy showed me time and time again that He was fighting for me. I could tell you some stories. Times when He used other people (who
really dont know anything about me) to speak words straight to me. I am not even kidding. The Creator of the Universe told me
that I had His full attention and that He delighted in me. He was fighting for me. I dont know about you, but that is
pretty incredible to me. Those
moments are something I will never forget.

He Fights For The Sick

Africa is more beautiful than I can describe. The people melt my heart. But sadly, healthcare is not exactly
what an American such as myself would desire. Medicines arent always available. Sanitary conditions take on a new meaning. A doctor may or may not have chewed on his
pen and then stuck it in a wound. (Im not even kidding yall. Ask Oralia) Again,
people could look at this and get angry or upset or believe that no loving God
would allow such conditions. However, when you look a little deeper you can see His presence all over
it. People are healed through
means other than medicine in Africa. Pastors take time out of their days to go to hospitals to pray for the
sick. Some clinics even have
people whose job is to pray for the sick. What? You mean the absence of modern medicine opens up people more to
the possibility of using the power of the Holy Spirit to heal? Crazy right! God
Fights for the sick. He wants to
heal them and in ways other than just providing modern day medical care. He cares enough to make something such
as healing an intimate experience between the sick and Himself. Wow. Just wow.

(Side Note: I also believe that God gave people the insight
and brainpower to create modern day medicine. When it is available, it is an incredible blessing. I mean I wanted to be a doctor the
majority of my life.)

He Fights For The Forgotten

When thinking about Africa, I believe that a lot of
Christians picture starving children and HIV/AIDS epidemics. I mean that is what the media shows
us. Obviously that is all that
Africa is. WRONG! Africa is a
continent so full of love and beauty and sacrifice that it takes my breath
away. Elderly women living in tiny
huts invite in Americans to share what little bit of shima they have to
eat. Children with tattered
clothes run screaming with joy and jump on the white people without
reservation. Church choirs
literally dance as they sing praises to their God without the use of any
instruments.  It is all so beautiful,
but people dont know that. They
cant picture the smiling faces. They dont feel all the tiny hands grabbing their own. They cant hear the music. But God
does. He sees each and every
one. He sees their needs and
fights to provide. God used the
traveling missionaries and local pastors to show them Jesus. He provides water wells and crops to
nourish them. And He fills their
hearts with such a joy and contentment. God Fights just as much for them as anyone else in this world. And I love it.

He Fights For You

So next time it seems like the world is falling apart and you
catch yourself feeling as if the God of the universe isnt fighting right by
your side, stop. Look at the
situation with a little different perspective. Open your eyes to His presence. Feel His love and desire for you. I promise you, He Is Fighting For You. You just might have not been paying
attention. I dare you to start.
