It’s 2 in the morning right now.
4 hours ago, I went to bed with a headache, slight fever, and intestinal/stomach pains. My teammate prayed healing over my body as I went to sleep because we were to wake up at 4:45 the next morning to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat, one of the 7 wonders of the world. I honestly thought I would still be sick in the morning and unable to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
As the night progressed, my fever grew. By about midnight, I was wearing my pajamas and a hoodie, I was swaddled in a blanket, and zipped all the way up to my chin in my sleeping bag, but my teeth still chattered as I curled up in the fetal position. From my bed I prayed to God, asking for healing. And he healed me.
By 1 am, the fever had broken. Who has ever heard of a fever running its complete course in just 3 hours? I certainly haven’t! I climbed out of my sleeping bag, took off my hoodie, and started praising God for His goodness. It was the most heart-felt worship I have experienced in a long time.
I still feel a bit delicate, and there are many challenges ahead of me. I need to hydrate well, but I hear that there are no bathrooms in Angkor Wat (yikes!). The blazing sun and questionable food situation will absolutely be taxing on my still-recovering system. But I am claiming the finished work of Jesus over my body. He began this work of healing in my body, and he will see me through to the end.
The Lord is the one who heals me. I cannot make myself healthy, and I cannot keep myself healthy, but the Lord can.
May the Lord be your healer.
