Hi readers!

I want you to meet my team!

From left to right, we are: Paige Burlew, Me, Megan Frazer, Kayla Fleming, Lena Ownbey, and Candice Shuffield (front row)

Candice is our fearless leader, and we are the faithful minions. Based on this picture, it looks like there are fun times ahead! 😀

I’m going to be getting to know them at the same time you are. We got to spend some time together at Training Camp, but only during the last day and a half—prior to that we didn’t know who our teammates would be! (You should go blog stalk them! Click on “Meet My Team: Mosaic” on the left-hand side of the screen to begin :D)

At first glance, our team doesn’t make a lot of sense. We are a very diverse group of girls, and several of us were rather trepidatious when we heard who our teammates would be.

However, we’ve all figured out by now that God knows what He is doing, and so we trust Him that He has put together a dream team right here! 😀

And that’s why we call ourselves Team Mosaic. We are all broken glass, scattered across the ground, but God is taking those broken pieces and putting them back together—not what we used to be, but something new, and something beautiful.

And He is doing it in the context of community—the six of us together will be greater than the six of us as individuals. It is absolutely going to be messy! These girls are going to see more of my selfishness, more of my pain, and more of my brokenness than most people have ever seen. But as we love, encourage, and support each other, we will experience God’s care through each other.

I hope you, reader, are experiencing community like that. I hope you are surrounded by people who love you unconditionally and show you grace, even when you don’t deserve it. Sometimes it takes effort to find and belong to a group like that. Sometimes you get a few duds before you get a winner. And always, it requires hard work on your part. It requires sacrifice and selflessness on your part to love others the way you hope to be loved.

I will keep you posted all year about how community is treating me. Feel free to do the same!

Love ya!
Katie

P.S. Part of community is giving helpful feedback, so I welcome all feedback regarding my blog–if you want me to write more or less on a given topic, or have stylistic suggestions, I welcome them!
