Hi, and welcome to my blog!

I suspect that alot of the people reading my blog already know me, but for those who don't, let me tell you about myself and how I became a World Racer.

About me–I am 22 years old. I love sports and outdoor activities–lifting weights, rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, hiking, dancing. I also love to sing and bake. And I love Jesus 🙂

I also love my family and friends, which made it difficult for me to commit to leaving them for 11 months, but I am looking forward to the new family God will be giving me–my teammates–as well as the new friends I will make all around the world.

"And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." – Matthew 19:29

"And what good is it if a man gains the whole world, yet loses his soul?" – Mark 8:36

I strongly suspect that there are privations awaiting me during the next 11 months. Sleeping on the ground, eating strange food, contracting foreign illnesses, feeling overwhelmed and exhausted–all of these scenarios are highly probable. However, I have counted the cost and decided that this trip is still worth it.

Why is it worth it? Because by taking a leap of faith, by placing myself in difficult situations, by committing to doing things I cannot do on my own strength, I am putting myself in a position to experience God, his provision, and his power.

I am excited to see what God does in my life and the lives of everyone around me this coming year, and I am honored to share that journey with you via this blog. Beyond that, I invite you to take your own journey. What action, small or great, can you take to put yourself in a place of dependency on God? Try it out and tell me what happens!

In Christ,

Katie
