Month 11 is here! The final month on the race, how did this happen? I’ve been slacking a bit on the blog front so I’ve decided to try to blog every day this month. If you’re worried about being spammed with notification emails, you’ll only get 23 more because that’s the amount of days until final debrief! With this last month, I’m trying to remain present yet keep an optimistic and excited view of the future, as uncertain as it may be.

We just arrived in Nicaragua yesterday. As far as travel days go, this one was fairly smooth. The border took 2 hours and they actually searched our bags for the first time but all things considered, we arrived safe and sound. Our host of Vision Nicaragua picked us up right around dinnertime (a time very much appreciated by traveling racers). The compound that we are living on is basically world race heaven. We have running showers (cold but it’s HOT here…), wifi, beds, towels, and clean water… Like I said, we’re living in the lap of world race luxury. We’re not entirely sure what our day-to-day ministry is going to look like yet but our hosts seem pretty great. We’re going to be working primarily alongside the short-term teams that will be coming through here this month as well as the 3 interns who are here.

Our compound has ample space to hammock and oh by the way, the San Cristobal Volcano is in our backyard.   This month is going to be great. This is the first month that our team unit is just our team. Hopefully we knocked out all of our sickness last month and we can give everything we’ve got to this final month.

Much love,

Katie
