Happy 4th of July everyone!  I can honestly say that I’ve never felt more like an American than during this celebration of our country although I am far from it.  Over the course of this year I have learned to love and appreciate the country that I was born in.  Celebrating here in Nicaragua we had firecrackers (everyone’s ok!) and cake. We sang our hearts out to Lee Greenwood’s “I’m Proud to Be an American” and took patriotic colored selfies.   There’s something about patriotism… the idea of being part of something bigger than the individual.  A common love of country binding the hearts and minds of all.  Maybe I’m a bit of an idealist but that’s ok 🙂

Happy 4th everyone!
