While I was watching the Super Bowl I had this thought: What if people got as excited for preventing the sex trafficking of little girls from Haiti as they did for football? What if people cheered and ‘woohoo’ed when a village in Mali gets access to clean water as much as when the Seahawks fumbled at the goal line?
What if we gave $5 to the man on the corner who can’t eat as easily as we drop $5 on a venti caramel macchiato?
I struggle with this on a daily basis. I absolutely LOVE the Caramel Brulée latte from Starbucks. If you know me at all, you know that caramel is my thing. My caffeine addiction is back in full swing.
I’ve started to realize how much I take for granted. How much money per month do I blow on coffee, soda, snapple, etc. It’s not worth it.
Not everyone can drop everything, stop living their normal lives and spring up on a trip to change the world.
Some of us have the chance 🙂
I have decided that a little girl in India who needs someone to brighten her day just with a smile is more important to me than Starbucks.
I am ready to cheer for clean water, ready to shout for joy when a child is rescued. Are you prepared to help with this calling?
Katie
