Hey friends! My name is Katie and I’m 22 years old. I am currently a senior at Converse College, a small women’s college in South Carolina, and I am majoring in Psychology. Post graduation (whoop whoop six more months) I plan on waiting tables, special teaming for FUGE, and saving money in preparation for the World Race! After that, who even knows.
I was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina with my two older brothers so needless to say I was a tomboy growing up. My mom and my grandpa are my biggest fans and my grandpa is my best friend (is that wierd?). I love my family, I love my friends, and I love my animals (crazy cat lady wut wut).
My journey to know Christ was a little bumpy to say the least. I was raised in a Christian household and was active in my church youth group in middle and high school. Even though I labelled myself as a “Christian” I didn’t know what it meant to have a deep and meaningful relationship with Christ. I struggled with feelings of doubt and insecurity in my relationship with Him and during my junior year of high school I walked away from the Lord all together after multiple personal tragedies rocked me to the core. In my season of unfaithfulness God proved to be so much more faithful than I ever could’ve imagined. I came back to my faith which eventually led to work FUGE Camps this past summer at North Greenville University. God moved so much during those eight short weeks, not only in me but through me, and I was baptized surrounded by my staff family on July 25.
A few more facts about me are:
1. I love all things athletic and college football season is my favorite season of the year (GO VOLS!).
2. My cat is my child and I have a horse that looks like a dalmatian.
3. I was an athlete for 14 years (sports played include softball, vollyball, swimming, and competitive horseback riding).
4. I trust easily and love just about everyone.
5. I’m fascinated by foreign languages – I’m working on being fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language.
6. I’m the mom of my friend group.
7. Sarcasm is my love language.
8. Coffee is my addiction and good sweet tea can solve any bad day.
9. I want to live in a Latin American country one day.
10. I played the saxophone for eight years and I marched in the band for two.
11. I sing all the time, even though I’m bad at it.
All of that being said, I can’t wait to share this experience with all of you! I know God is about to do some crazy radical things to and through me and I hope that by being a part of my journey He shapes you, too. If you want more info about me, my story, or my Race please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’d love to chat.
All the blessings,
Katie
