If you know me well, you know that I love dancing, pancakes, and Newsies. If you know me really well, you know that I love the feeling you get when you see a new place for the first time. A new place that you have never been before and that has endless possibilities and adventures to be had. You will also know that I love people and that I ask a lot of questions. I love listening to people’s stories. I ask a lot of questions because I truly care about the answers. I love hearing people describe the events and people in their lives. If you know me really really well, you know that I am who I am because, he first loved… 1 John 4:19. You see I believe in a God that is big enough to call me to the World Race. A God that is big enough to provide the finances that will enable me to go, that is big enough to protect me while I am on the race, and that is big enough to change lives, communities and the world.

When asked the question “Why the World Race?” it always takes me a moment to answer. To collect and organize the many thoughts, that are going around in my head, all vying to be declared.

If I can be honest, I will admit that there are many times that I have doubted myself. How on earth am I qualified to travel around the world and provide relief or even joy to a lost and hurting world?   When I think about it, I am not qualified at all. I know this, and because of that I believe that the Lord is calling me go, knowing that only because of him am I capable.

I believe that we live in a broken world that is hurting. However, I believe even more in the power of the gospel, and that the gospel is the answer to all of the brokenness and the hurt in the world. The one thing I believe more than anything else is that the gospel is something to be shared.

I would also like to confess something else. I am 23 years old and I have been out of college for a year and a half and I have NO IDEA what I want to do with my life. There I said it, and to be honest it feels good to say it, because it’s okay to not have all the answers. I really do not think any one person does have all the answers. I do however know what I am passionate about and the World Race combines all of my passions.

So I want to go on the World Race because I am being called to it. Jesus’s words found in, Matthew 28:18-20 ring loudly in my ear and tug on my heart, and verse 20 makes me bold enough to say yes to his call.

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

So I guess that a more appropriate question is why not?

So in July of this year I will embark on a new an exciting journey and I would love for you to join me.  To join me and witness what God is capable of doing. God calls us to community and fellowship and when two or three gather in his name he to is also there. (Matthew 18:20)
