About Me
So I’m not really sure what I should put here so I’ll just list random facts so you have an idea about who I am.
- My name is Katie Lossner
- I’m 25 years old
- Jesus Christ is Lord of my life and without him I am nothing.
- I have never been much of a writer and this whole blogging thing is very intimidating to me.

I tend to be shy and quiet at first, but savor those moments because once I get to know you I WILL talk your ear off.

I have loving, supportive parents who I am going to miss very much and I am very thankful they are actually supportive of this trip (I seriously expected them to freak out and possibly disown me).
- I have lived in the same small town my entire life, which is about 20 minutes from Cocoa Beach.
- Despite the fact that I live near the beach, I typically only make it there 1 -3 times a year and I am probably the whitest Floridian you will know.
- I have red hair, green eyes and pale skin, and I’m told as long as I don’t open my mouth while in Ireland people will believe I’m Irish… I’m so going to try it.
- I know God has a sense of humor because just a few years ago I said I would never go to Africa, and now I will be spending 3 months there… AND I’m excited about it.
- I love my church and have been involved in the ministry there since I was 14. I love helping people and love being a part of the outreach there and I love watching us grow as a family both spiritually and in numbers. I consider the people there part of my family and I know I will miss them all terribly over the 11 months.
- I love working with children, especially young ones, and my heart is for orphans. In fact, my mother expects that I will come home with 14 orphans in my backpack…
- I love animals, and currently have two dogs, a cat and a horse.
- I love pretty much anything outdoors (as long as it’s not during August in Florida).
- I love admiring God’s handiwork and his beautiful landscapes and creations.
- I’ve recently begun trying to capture this amazing beauty through photography. My skills do not give God’s work justice but I love to keep trying!
- I take a WAY too many pictures, but in the craziness I do capture some good keepers.
- I LOVE chocolate and one of my fears about the trip is I won’t be able to have it often and will go through withdrawals.
- I have a slight fear of heights.
- I will never bungee jump. Ever. Not happening. Period.

I’m always over-prepared for everything. So I’m a little nervous about having to carry everything I own in my backpack for a year. I most definitely will always have the heaviest pack, but also will likely have what someone needs!!

I LOVE movies, however, I don’t get to watch them very often so there are many popular ones that I have not seen. AND, I do not keep up with actors’ lives or their names and cannot remember lines to movies. So if you make a reference to an actor or a line from a movie and I give you a blank stare, please don’t be surprised. If I got a dollar for every time someone said “I can’t believe you don’t know who that is” or “I can’t believe you haven’t seen that movie” my trip would EASILY be paid for!
- I love music. Unfortunately, I was not gifted with a singing voice though. Oh, and same as with movies, I do not know the name of the song and usually don’t know who sings it…
- I hate bugs and snakes and dirty toilets or outhouses and weird foods, and I do dread the idea of having to face those fears, but in God, all things are possible!! And I’m still praying for a miracle that I don’t have to deal with any of that while we are gone…. ;0)
