Such an amazing Saturday morning here in India. My teammate and I woke up early, got ready, and headed out. The task was to go and pick up one of America’s favorite pastries, cinnamon rolls, for our team’s breakfast!
Motorized cart things called Tuk-Tuks are the most common mode of transportation here in India and are always available as soon as you step onto the street. So we jumped in the first one that pulled up and said, “Caramels bakery by the hospital?” The driver was a little hesitant BUT shook/bobbled his head suggesting he knew where we were going and off we went!
Tuk-Tuk!
About 8 minutes into our adventure he points to a sign and says .. bakery? My teammate Danielle and I just look at each other .. OH BOY .. I immediately started praying and laughing, “Jesus even though there is a communication barrier aka I don’t speak ANY Telugu and the driver doesn’t speak ANY English and we have no idea where we are please help us and direct the driver to Caramel’s Bakery! We NEED those baked goods! 🙂
My Marine sense of direction kicked in AND I began to recognize buildings that I KNOW God specifically put in my memory for this particular morning! I know this because my memory is VERY limited and I rarely remember what happened yesterday! So remembering buildings and directions from a week ago would be pretty much impossible for me alone! Knowing God had us on the right track I started directing the driver. Trying not to panic my teammate, I let her know that we could stop at any time but that I was having fun, I love adventures, so we continued! Between God, the driver, and my teammate and I we eventually see the Promised Land aka the bakery!! Smiles and laughs shine on the both of our faces because we know God is great and provided the way. He cares about all aspects of our life, even when it comes to the small things like Saturday morning Cinnamon rolls in India! To top it off we had a surprise for us when we got back to the apartment! Another teammate had made coffee for us!
Do you trust God with the small things? Do you know that when you are lost, He will get you to where you are suppose to be when you rely on Him? I challenge you to try it sometime! You are everything to Him and He loves when you rely on His strength and guidance!
Also, of high importance, my teammate Danielle saw her first, not so rare sighting, of a man peeing on the side of the road on the way back! I tried to warn her but it was too late!! She somehow had managed to save her eyes for the last two weeks we have been here in India.
