I am currently in India! More specifically in the state of Andhra Pradesh! So stoked!
Our hosts this month are Sean and Paige and our ministry here is with Covenant Children’s Home (CCH). It is a program under Indian Christian Ministries (ICM), which provides at risk kids a safe place to live, an English speaking education, food, water, and a chance at a better life.
At risk in this case means that either one or both parents have passed away and there are no living relatives that are able or willing to take care of the child. When this happens it can lead to a child not being fed or given clean water for literally days, going to a low standard educational school or dropping out, continuing the family line of poverty. The children are also exposed to the possibility of being sold by their living relatives into human, work, or sex trafficking in return for a payment of some sort.
CCH is changing the dynamics of life in India one child and one village at a time. It is such a life-giving program that truly exhibits the love and selflessness of Christ through its actions. A maximum of 10 children are placed in a home with a local ICM Pastor and his family. The children are not taken away from their family nor are they adopted. The blood family is able to keep in contact, call and visit when times are available and can take the children back at any time. These homes are literally taking in orphaned and abandoned children and raising them as if they were their own with the church support all around them. It has been such an inspiring and humbling month!

My team and I spend Sunday morning thru Friday morning in the villages and then Friday afternoon thru Sunday morning we have rest days in the local city.
There are currently 69 homes with over 500 children living in the homes. That means 500 children in India have been given a second chance and a safe home to grow in and get a good education!
