Fundraising can be stressful. It’s a continually growing list of things that need to be done ( and all are equally pressing). It’s a time-eating monster when not properly tamed. Today flew by and I feel like I didn’t accomplish anything. Then I took part of the fundraising course through Aim, which was great, until I got to the part that recommends spending 20-30 hours a day for 10 weeks in order to be fully funded in time….and I only have ~5 weeks. I must admit I’m a little discouraged tonight.
You may be asking yourself, “Why is she posting this? Blogs are for amazing, life changing stuff and cool insights.” Well, the reason I’m posting is because I know this won’t be the last time I get discouraged about life or even the World Race. Sometimes life feels like it’s going to eat us alive and spit out our bones. Sometimes panic seizes our hearts and all we can do is call out to God because we don’t know what to do next. Sometimes we just feel kinda sucky. But none of that can stop us from pressing forward and fighting the good fight.
God has created us for such a time as this and he has wonderful things in store if we will only trust him. If I let something like the stress of looking up a million peoples addresses get to me, I’ll miss out on all of the fulfillment that comes with partnering with fellow believers in going to the nations. I refuse to miss out on God’s call for my life so anxiety, you’re just going to have to get over yourself.
For those of you who feel like the world is a little too much to bear, I’d just like to remind you that there’s hope and God will lead us through it. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. He did not give us a spirit of fear but of faith (some versions say power), love and a sound mind. Greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. We are never alone. We’ve got each other. And best of all, we’ve got God. 🙂 Isn’t that the best news ever!? We’re backed by the creator of the universe- the Lord of lords and King of kings. He’s got us in the palm of his hands. Who better to give our lives over to?
Right now is a great moment to rock out to the song, “Your love never fails.” Just saying.
