As you may have noticed I haven’t been available on the internet since leaving for launch. It took us longer than planned to get access to an internet stick. When we did, I couldn’t get my computer to download the program you use (something about not jiving with Windows 8). Also when trying to access things like FB and email on other’s computers my passwords freaked out.

So if you’ve sent me something, I’m not ignoring you. I just can’t get into anything. I’m able to access my blog through another racer’s computer so that’ll probably be the only connection I’ll have to peps until October when we have a different internet situation in Nepal. If things are still weird I’ll create a backup email that we can stay in touch with. Thanks for bearing with me. 🙂

So just to fill you in a little more about India:

Those 3 days at launch were packed full of training, reconnecting and worshiping as a squad. Then on Monday we began a 20-something hour journey from Atlanta to New York, New York to New Delhi (with a pause in Norway), and New Delhi to Bangalore.

It’s been wonderful serving here. The people are so hospitable and kind. Sendme in particular reminds me of my mom. We have to really push to get her to let us help make or clean up after meals. It took a little more effort to get the adults to warm up to us (they were friendly but formal at first). But now we joke and laugh and sing songs about banana pancakes on “American Idol India” (I hope you catch the ridiculousness of that title).

Working with the kids is different but there’s a lot less of a language barrier than I thought. Their English is surprisingly good. We did a skit yesterday where we read the story of Job (talking about God being our friend and such) and then had some of them act it out. We had to do some simplifying with words and leave out some slang from the original script but they did a great job!

As a side note there are cows everywhere. Stacey, you would get a kick out of it. We’ll be walking down the street and look over and there’s a cow just chillin in someone’s yard. Or we’ll be playing in the field with the children and a pack of cows just meanders through the street.

If you want to comment or send me a message here please do. I’ll reply back to emails and FBness when I am able (starting with you mom, I promise 😉

Love you all~

Katie
