The last three months my team and I have been working in a ministry we refer to as JOT which is a high school class named “Jesus Our Teacher”. We get up and speak infront of 2-6 classes of students ranging from 8th grade to senior year. Each day we come in with prayer not really sure what we are going to speak on and feel out what the Spirit has to say the specific class. Over and over again my topic was gossip.
Gossip is evil. Gossip is one of the many ways that the enemy attempts to seal, kill, and destroy. Gossip is a death tactic.
When we choose to speak about other people we are making a choice between speaking life or speaking death over that person. When we speak life, we are building each other up and calling each other higher with encouragement and bring joy and peace to that person, but when we choose to speak death over a person we are tearing them down and breaking relationships.
I asked the high schoolers, “what does it say about us when we are speaking life, we need a heart check, we need conviction about this. Who are we representing when we speak? Whose words are we speaking?” When we walk with the Lord, we accept to be His vessels. My hands are no longer mine, they are His and doing His work, my feet walk where Jesus wants to walk because I’m allowing Him to use my feet and when I speak I want to say His words, not mine. Jesus speaks life. Jesus is life. Walk with Him, speak His words and see where He takes you. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
