Dear Family and Friends,

I have some exciting news to share with you!  I’ve been accepted to be a World Racer travelling to 11 different countries over 11 months loving on orphans, planting churches, feeding the hungry, building schools, teaching English, fighting human trafficking, and caring for the homeless.

Where I’ve Been:
As you may know, for the past 5 years I have been at the University of Guelph studying a Bachelor of Applied Science in Adult Development with a minor in Child and Family Studies.  I plan to move forward with a Masters in Social Work focusing on community development and programming.  You may also know that I love to volunteer and serve.  I have spent many hours running food drives (Trick or Eat Halloween Food Drive) in both St. George and Brantford and I have volunteered in many non-profit organizations working with children and communities as a whole in both Brantford and Guelph.  I also have been an active member, volunteer and summer employee at my church in Brantford – Freedom House, working on the Kindness Project, changing our city as Captain Kindness says, “by good into good”.   As I looked to apply to Universities for September, I realized that there was something missing.  Having spent the past 19 years sitting learning in a classroom, I began to recognize that there was a certain understanding, a passion, a fire that needed re-lit.

I couldn’t shake it.   I knew, God was telling me that I needed to seek Him first.  I needed to give and spread the love and compassion He instilled in me on a more global scale.  I never imagined it would happen, but God was calling me to missions.

Where I’m Going:
A great man and friend of mine once said; “Freedom isn’t being able to go and do whatever you want, freedom is having the courage to go and do what God has called you to do” ~ Dave Carrol..  So, in September, I will be leaving to serve as a missionary through an organization called Adventures in Missions, in their exciting program called The World Race.  The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self- discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe.

On the World Race, my team and I will partner with many initiatives that are bringing long-term, sustainable, empowering solutions to the communities.  I will be flying, backpacking, and camping in the following countries: China, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, India, Nepal, Ukraine, and Romania.  I am so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me, and have every confidence that He will provide for my needs! Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you.

How You Can Help:
I am writing to you to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in my ministry. The total cost of this mission is $15,500.  This covers all of my expenses on the field.  This may seem like a lot of money but it is actually quite inexpensive when you consider traveling to 11 different countries!  And if 155 people give $100, then it will be covered!  You may be able to give more or you may need to give less, but every dollar will count!  Or you may want to send a monthly donation…whatever you feel led to do!  There are 2 different ways to sow seed into this ministry:

  1. You can make checks payable “in U.S. dollars” to Adventures In Missions and return the response card I’ve included with your donation to: Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: KatieKemp.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.

  1. You can mail your donation directly to me: Katie Kemp, 265 Bateman Line, Mount Pleasant, ON. N0E 1K0.

Feel free to share this information with your friends and local church.  You can follow my blog posts or follow on Facebook both now as I prepare for the trip and along the race.  I would be happy to come and speak at your church, business or organization.  I am so excited to see how God will move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year.  I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring your help and love to our brothers and sisters.  And thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support and for being a WORLD CHANGER alongside me!

May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.

Thank you and God Bless,
~ Katie
