Dear Family and Friends,
High speed internet, my full size bed, and my best friends are absolutely my favorite privileges I’ve enjoyed for the last 20 years. They bring me comfort, consistency, and joy everyday. But God has called me to leave it behind. Actually, he has called me to leave everything behind and to fit my life into a backpack and leave the United States for 11 months. I’m absolutely ecstatic (and terrified) to announce that in January 2017 I will be heading overseas, traveling to 11 different countries in 11 months on The World Race with Adventures in Missions.
The World Race sends young adults from the ages of 21-35 on a Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. Not only will we be serving and partnering with churches and ministries in local communities, but we will be going through an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. I will be planting churches, working in orphanages, ministering to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bringing the restorative hope of God’s love to many tribes and nations.
I believe I will see God move mightily as I travel around the world bringing his good news, but I’m just as excited to see him move this year as I prepare to go. One of the biggest obstacles I have to face this year is fundraising $17,417. As enormous as that number may seem, I have peace knowing that God knows where every last penny will come from. As I take this large step of faith in trusting the Lord, would you prayerfully consider joining me at $100 monthly or some other amount? Anything as little as a one time $5 gift or as big as $100 monthly commitment is going to help immensely in meeting my financial goals and in encouraging me. I also request that you would support me through prayer and encouragement as I will heavily be relying on that for the next couple years.
I am willing to do anything from babysitting, cleaning houses/cars, pet sitting, baking cookies, cakes or cheesecakes or any other job you can think of to earn money. Visit my blog at katiehurley.theworldrace.org for more details on the trip, to hear my heart on why I have decided to go, or to contact me for more information. Read the included orange paper for details on how to donate.
With Love,
Katie Hurley
