Come up the mountain with me to a school without enough books for each student to study and allow me to tell you what I saw there.

Two by two racers teamed up to teach English to the dark eyed children of this beautiful country.

In the second classroom we visited there sat a little girl whose heart was heavy.  She was perfectly formed in all ways aside from the fact that one of her fingers on her left hand was found lacking.

The other children ridiculed her causing her to often feel less important than those around her due to the loss of a few pieces of flesh and bone.

My friend Meagan heard of this injustice from the teacher and instantly took the little one into her arms.  “Tell her she is beautiful.” She instructed Percy, a friend who came with us.

Meagan took both the broken hand and the fully formed hand in her own, closed her eyes, and spoke words filled with unending, unadulterated, long-lasting love for the heart of this child.  She prayed for strength to carry on in the midst of persecution.  She asked for perseverance to be graciously placed in the heart of the little love.  She brought kingdom to the heart of a little one in the school yard.  She loved as Jesus loves.

“I love you,” She said as her bluer than blue eyes searched the girls deep brown ones.

Today the picture of God’s grace and love was painted across the canvas of life and once again steps toward home were taken.  We won’t know the rest of this child’s story.  We are not even a dot on the timeline of her life, but God knows her steps and He will carry her through.  Already he feels her heartbeat, and hurts from the cruel words that are directed at her.

Lean into His chest, sweetheart.  Lean in and let His love hold you captive until the day we all get to go home.

All for now through the eyes of a storyteller…
