Three days spent in Ghana and already this place has filled me with a sense of peace. The gorgeous puffy clouds promise to shower rain on the mountains filling the world with clean fresh air and the hope of new tomorrows.

Walking into my second month of the World Race I am reminded of something my momma wrote in the letter she pressed into my hand as she held me goodbye at launch. She had written all the beautiful things that mothers want to tell their little girls as they set sail on an adventure… and she wrote her hope for me this year would be one of new life and new beginnings.
Last month was wonderful. The African ocean waves thrilled my very soul and the seafood was an unexpected adventure. I did not foresee myself ever eating a baby squid I came across in my daily rice… but that happened. I learned so much about myself and saw that there is a great amount of wonderful things as well as challenges to living closely with an abundance of other people. Ghana is the focus now and I am excitedly leaning into the knowledge and understanding held here for me in this place… My mothers words to me took root in my soul as my translator and I laid hands on the belly of an expectant mother speaking life over her little one. Charles and I were out inviting the community to come to a prayer service that evening when we saw a woman seated at a table in the foreground of a little street-side shop. She watched us with curious eyes as the pair of us crossed over to speak to her. After a quick hello, a brief explanation of the nights events, and extending an invitation to her and her family to come I began to walk away from her. My translator wasn’t as hasty as I. “Can I pray for your baby?” He asked her.
She nodded and he placed my hands on her tummy and covered my hands with his own. As he stood there praying life over the beautiful little heart that has yet to beat without the aid of his momma I felt little feet or maybe little arms push against my hands. That little one felt us praying… felt my hands… and let us know it.
New beginnings… of all kinds… are beautiful and worth the trouble of transitions.
Ghana… Teach me all your lessons and help me to serve you in all the ways I am able.

All for now from the eyes of a storyteller.
This month we have a very limited amount of wifi which means that I will be writing all my blogs and posting them whenever I get the chance… Please don’t let the timeline confuse you.
