What. a. month. Africa has definitely gone out with a bang. Mukono, Uganda will have a distinct place in my heart and mind forever after this. Our experiences are one thing, and you’ve heard plenty about that. As much as being here has been really challenging, I feel like we now have more close friends here than in any other country so far.
Mama Christine (& Papa Joseph)
This amazing couple hosted us for the month. They own a beautiful property not far from town, as you’ll see in our Cribs: Mukono video. They were easy to talk to, and had no trouble providing us with smiles and peanut butter every day.
Clare and Danny
One daughter of Christine & Joseph. She came often to help with things, and always brought her son along. Little Danny was really afraid of the mzungus at first… he would always cover his eyes or hide his face when we were around. Eventually, he warmed up to us, and (by the last few days) even ran to us to hold him.
Betty
is a talker. She talks a lot, about everything, and she knows it. But this woman has a passionate heart, and a big desire to share it. She has been through a lot this month; it has been amazing to see her growth in such a short amount of time. Just yesterday, she applied to Bethel School of Ministry in Redding, California. How amazing is that?! It will be a few weeks yet before we hear of her acceptance, but we will be helping her raise funds for her tuition. Please be praying for Betty, and think about helping her study in California!
Birungi
Christine & Joseph’s youngest daughter. She happened to be on break from school this month, so we had lots of time to get to know her. She and I spent hours talking about life, and I feel like she helped me understand so much. Also… she has a beautiful voice. Our last Sunday at Eagles Mountain Church, she and I sang together. I loved it. Also, “Birungi” means “beautiful” in Luganda.
Mwebale, Uganda.
