Hi Everyone
Team Wreckonciled is in Eldoret, Kenya for the month of
July. We’re staying with Pastor Patrick and his family, helping out at
Releasing Destiny Ministries.
Releasing Destiny Ministries is a church that Pastor P
started just over a year ago with the help of a World Race team from K Squad.
Since then, four other squads have been here to help out. And now V-Squad is
here to continue the work.
The vision of this church is to reach the brokenhearted and
to provide a place for healing to occur. It’s a small church so far, less than
20 people, but there is so much joy and passion in each service. The first week
we were here we visited each of the church members at home. We had the
opportunity to get to know them a little better, and to pray with them. This week
we will be starting outreach.
Kenya is such a change of pace from Thailand. In Chiang Mai
life was so busy! Our days were full, and there was always something to be
doing. Here the pace is much slower. We are now on “African Time”, which means
that if something starts at 10am, don’t expect anyone before 11am.
It is a little difficult to adjust to a slower pace,
especially for someone who likes to mark thing off on checklists, but I think
God has set aside this time for my team to spend more time with Him. We are
getting a lot more time to devote to simply just reading the Bible, praying,
prophesying, or just sitting with Him.
I love Kenya so much. Where we are reminds me more of Timon
and Pumba’s oasis than Simba’s Pride Land – it is so green and beautiful here.
We went a visited a waterfall a couple of days ago. The climate is cool and
dry, which is a welcome relief from the hot and humid that we have lived in for
the first six months of the race.
As you can probably understand, internet access is scarce this month. We are planning on taking weekly trips into town to email and blog, but don’t worry if you don’t hear from me regularly. Please continue to pray for my team as we are seeking God harder than ever this month.
(Again, I will be adding pictures when I have better internet…)
