Week 2 Update
This week in Tauranga has been a busy week so far. We our staying at
Faith Bible College and sleeping in our tents. We have hot showers which has
been awesome, and we have a kitchen where we get to cook our own dinner.
A typical day here has been wake up around 6am, eat breakfast and pack a
lunch for our team (we take turns making our PB&J sandwiches) then we head
to Change Point Church where we have a four-hour prayer/worship time in the
mornings. It is amazing how much God can say to you when you sit with Him for
4-hours and give him the chance.
Then at noon we eat lunch and then it is time to get to work. My team has
been staying at the church doing some work that needed to be done around there.
I am a pro- pressure washer now. The teams that haven’t been staying have been
going to help set up for ‘A Call To All’, which is conference we will be
helping put on January 19th– 22nd. Typically we finish up
working around 5 or 6 and then we head back to FBC, cook dinner, and have team
time where we talk about our day and give feedback.
Four-hour prayer has probably been one of the coolest experiences for me
so far. Also, learning how to eat off of $3 a day when almost everything is
more expensive than it would be at home has been pretty interesting. But God’s
been awesome. The 3rd day when we were so hungry, the members of
Change Point brought us guacamole and chips, scones and muffins, which were
delicious. Then Jody (one of the guys who works at Change Point) and his wife
made us sausage sizzles for dinner, which is
basically their version of a hot dog. Also, our budget is very limited for
transportation but God has provided there as well. YWAM has been letting us
borrow one of their vans this week and then the people at the church have been
pitching in to help shuttle us back in forth. The people here have been so good
to us, doing everything they can to help us out. I couldn’t imagine a better
place to have started out the race.
