Thanksgiving this year is looking a little differently for me.

I am in Nepal, on a river, in the Himalayan Mountains, & enjoying the 60 degree weather.

I have yet to see a Turkey… since America.
Corn is only available in the form of Maize corn.
Sweet Potatoes… wait, what do they look like again?
Cranberry sauce is non-existent.
Green bean casserole requires an oven to bake… so none of that. We do have green beans but none of the other necessary ingredients or an oven to bake it in.
Pumpkin pie only exists in my dreams.

So we may be lacking some crucial components to a Thanksgiving dinner,
BUT we do have:

  • chickens, which are currently still alive & running around for a few more hours.
  • Bread, which will magically without an oven turn into stuffing (we are praying that it will work)
  • Green beans, which we are going to go hand-pick & then sauté
  • Apples, which also without an oven are going to magically turn into something that resembles apple pie… it’s the closest thing to pumpkin.
  • Each other… after all family is one of the most important things…

This year I am missing out on good food & time with family,
BUT the Lord has brought me to this very place in Nepal for a reason & a purpose,
and for that I am very THANKFUL.

  • I am thankful that the Lord has given me & my team the opportunity to visit unreached villages and share the Gospel with them.
  • I am thankful for the encouragement & support of my family & friends.
  • I am thankful for the Lord provision & faithfulness, which has gotten me to this very place.
  • I am thankful for the continued generosity of my supporters who have collectively donated over $11,000… leaving only $3,700 to raise by March 1st.
  • I am thankful for my team, who has lived every moment of the past 2.5 months with me… encouraging, supporting, and loving the whole time.
  • I am thankful for the prayers of many, which have protected, comforted, and covered me with love during my time overseas.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
