Here’s a little information about me:
My Life Goal: to live an adventure of faith and love through Jesus Christ.
My Interests: Sitting and talking with friends, cooking, eating, hiking, camping, basically being outdoors, doing crafts, planning parties, decorating, reading, watching LOST and Gilmore Girls, and bargain shopping.
My Background: I was born in Charlotte, NC. I have an amazing family with 2 wonderful parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters. I committed my life to Christ when I was six, so pretty much as long as I can remember I’ve been interested in spiritual things and wanting others to be too. In elementary school I would often talk to my mom about wanting other kids in my class to know Jesus. Recently, she found an essay I wrote with the prompt “what I want to be when I grow up”. I wrote that I wanted to be a missionary…or an astronaut. I think I’m just intrigued by things that are greater than I am…or maybe I just wanted to get out of the country.
As the years have passed, I’ve learned more and more about the Lord and what it means to follow Him. The most profound years of my growth occurred in college. I attended Appalachian State University in the mountains of North Carolina. I majored in Applied Communication, but often joked that I had a minor in a campus ministry, Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC). I was super involved in CCC all four years of college, attending meetings, leading Bible studies, etc. My sophomore year I joined a sorority with amazing women and later had the opportunity to be our chapter’s chaplain. Throughout college, It was awesome to see God work in ways that I never expected to be possible. I had fun, grew in my relationship with the Lord, and built some sweet friendships.
As college came to a close, I struggled with whether to do missions overseas or to stay in the states. After much prayer, I felt led to intern at Appalachian with Campus Crusade for Christ. As my internship neared a close, I went through a time of questioning. I was wondering what ministry was, what it meant to truly follow Christ, and how I fit into God’s bigger picture. Around this time, I got an e-mail about the World Race. It soon became apparent that this was what I was supposed to do.
My Present State: I’m super excited about what God has in store. I don’t really have a passion for any specific type of ministry (well…maybe orphans), but I do know that I love the Lord and I love people and I want them to know Him. Maybe this trip will help me to figure out what God has for my life, or maybe I’ll just to learn to love more. Whatever it is, I’m ready!
