Greetings, Earthling. I come in peace.

Though that wasn’t how I approached the World Race. I kind of approached the Race kicking, screaming, and pleading with God.

On February 6, 2013, I sat on the floor of the Guatemala City airport telling my friends the Race sounded like fun but it definitely wasn’t for me.

By February 27, 2013, I was pitching the idea of going on the Race to my parents. (Needless to say, they were less than thrilled but supportive).

That’s the long version of the story.

It took God ten minutes to change my mind from “No way!” to “I’m all in!” in regards to the Race.

I’d previously told Him that I was only interested in there was ever a predominantly Spanish route with a January start date.

Well, God ain’t scared of my little contingencies, and I’ll be leaving behind my life as a freelance writer and launching on the first ever all-Spanish Race in January 2014.

I’m a writer/editor/blogger by both trade and passion. I graduated undergrad in 2011 with a degree in English and Spanish. Hence the passion for Latin America.

I’ve already been to three of the countries on my route (Guatemala, Costa Rica, Nicaragua) as well as a few others (Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, China). Yeah, that Spanish came in really handy in China… You should ask my friend Amber about the time I said “Si” to the maid about 15 times before she reminded me that it was useless.

I know American Sign Language too but since each country has its own signed language, it won’t be too useful on the Race. (But that won’t stop me from using it).

I’m pretty excited about the stories God’s going to entrust to me on the Race, and I hope that I can do them justice.

Thank you for following along as we find out.

Peace!
