This month I have the honor of working with theee Lisa! She’s an alumni racer who after her second month fell in love. She fell in love with Nicaragua and a few months after finishing her race found herself packing up to move to Nicaragua. She began working for New Song with a spring in her step to one day open up a home for children.
Her dream began 8 years ago when she hosted children for a Christmas dinner in her home in Atlanta Georgia. As love was shared similar to a family’s love over that meal she desired to create a home where kids could come to be part of a family. She worked for years down here praying circles of how God would bring her care, her desire to love underprivileged kids and living in Nicaragua together. And through the years God developed the passion to open a foster home.
Since living here she has opened an organization, fundraised and bought land. In January 2015 she broke ground to begin building a home to be a foster home. Her passions and dreams are officially a reality!!
Last week we had the amazing opportunity to walk around the land and pray over the future it will instill for the children of this area. It’s an amazing gift to see God open doors and make dreams and talents come together to create a reality.
As I sat on her roof top I began chuckling thinking of the amazing things God is capable of. He really has no limit. 8 years in the making He is developing a Christmas Dinner into a home full of possibilities. It’s beautiful. It hasn’t been laid out easily, but with Lisa’s dedication it’s been well worth the journey. This race has been amazing to be able to experience these stories that began as dreams and are now a reality. It makes me ask myself, what dreams have I had and will I put all my faith in Gods capability. It’s fun to imagine possibilities.
I’m excited for what’s ahead for this home. Lisa has demonstrated so much faith and dedication I know this is only a beginning. It’s inspiring to see how she pursued her dreams and how she continues to see doors open. These children will be loved dearly. Praying that this Christmas becomes the first of many in the home of Abide! I am beyond grateful for getting to witness how this Racer made her dreams become a reality!
