I like to have a plan. I like to daydream about far away places. I like to imagine myself doing the impossible, the wild, the crazy, and the adventurous.
I have planned to go on the World Race. I have daydreamed about myself carrying everything in a backpack, sleeping in my tent whilst listening to the world around me, and laying down in the grass whilst overlooking Machu Picchu. I have imagined myself going to a remote village to a completely wild and different culture to share the Gospel and experiencing some unexpected miracles of God’s work.
Although a ton of crazy ideas have swept through my head and many hours of sleep have been given over to my daydreaming about the world race I try not to think too much about what to expect because I’m expecting the unexpected.
Although I don’t know what to expect from the World Race…
1. I expect to experience God and the Holy Spirity in a radical way.
2. I expect to learn things I never dreamed of.
3. I expect God to use me in ways I never thought possible.
4. I expect a few detours with my team that may lead to unexpected opportunities from God and maybe some interesting adventures
5. I expect to be overcome with a sense of awe at the world God has created and the people He has made and fall in love with them.
6. I expect to be homesick for my mommy (I usually call her mom but it’s mommy when I really miss her), my grandma, and my best dog-friend Sugar.
7. I expect to be challenged by the possibility of not being able to shower or bathe daily and I expect to be good with the odors of myself and fellow teammates.
8. I expect to be challenged with accepting certain foreign foods even though I am generally not a picky eater and am up for some challenges or dares!
9. I expect to develop some life-long friendships with my teammates, squad mates, and/or possibly those I meet around the globe.
10.Lastly, I expect to return home a completely different person. A better person. A person whom God has changed so completely through this journey that it will be the end of life as I knew it before the World Race.
Maybe I should have named this the top 11 list of what to expect from The World Race because…
11. I expect to go on this journey with the support of many family, friends, and strangers. Support through prayers, support through words of encouragement, and through financial support. I love you all so much and I am eternally blessed to know each of you and blessed to be blessed by those of you I don’t know! Thank you all so much!
Please seek how God would like you to help support me on this upcoming journey.
