Hi, my name is Katia Caylor. I’ve never blogged before so this shall be an adventure in itself!
I am 25 years old. I was born and raised in Texas and still reside here. I became a Christian at the age of 13 and surrendered to the ministry at 16. Life has been an exciting and scaring roller coaster ride, and I believe the excitement and fright will only continue in the months to come.
Instead of telling you all of my likes and dislikes in this “about me” post I would like to begin this blog by telling you about an awesome God and little bit of how He has changed me in my very short time on this earth thus far.
God gave me a wonderful home from birth. I did not see it at first, but it was. He gave me an amazing mother who did her best to support me in every way possible (except for in cheer leading, even though she has been a cheer leading sponsor in the past. Don’t worry mom, I will never forget that moment! Hehehe). My earthly father was never present and did not wish to know the loud, talented, and green-eyed girl that was his daughter, and it took a long time to realize that no earthly father could ever compare to the greatness and love my Heavenly Father is.
The journey to realizing how deep the Father’s love is for me was a long and treacherous one so I will be brief in my part of the story and long on God’s part; because it’s really all about Him and His redemptive love.
I sought attention from all the boys and tried to find my value and self-worth in them, but God showed me my value and self worth are not in boys/men or even myself but in Him alone. I was broken many times: emotionally, physically, and spiritually, but God revealed Himself to me, mended my broken heart and soul, and showed me that He is the ultimate Healer in every aspect of life.
I was married, divorced, and in a mess. The things that happened during that time hardened my heart. I thought I was no longer valuable or of use to minister to His kingdom because I had messed up too much and had done too many awful things. However, God is the ultimate Redeemer and He led me onto another journey of life.
I said yes to Him and stopped making plans for myself because it had obviously gotten me in some pretty sticky situations. He made it clear that nothing could separate me from His love. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. He also showed me that even though I have messed up royally by making my plans that He still has a plan for me. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11.
God led me to Dallas Baptist University in 2011 to receive a BA in Christian Studies with a minor in Spanish. I graduated in May 2013. Those two years at DBU were life-changing. I am forever grateful not only for the education I received there but for the many friendships that blossomed during that time. He gave me the wonderful job I have now teaching Spanish, music, and art at a private Christian school. I have been here since October, and it will be hard to say goodbye to all those sweet little faces and the amazing Christian women I have the pleasure of working with when I leave for the World Race.
The World Race is God’s next leg of my journey with Him. To find out more about why I was compelled to apply for the World Race please stay tuned for my next entry!
In the meantime, please feel free to contribute financially to this upcoming journey by clicking the sponsor link on the homepage of my blogsite. Without your love, prayers, and support this journey will not be possible! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this very first journal entry of a very long yet short journey!
Oh, and what the heck… I may as well tell you a smidge about what I enjoy doing… I love books, movies, music, art, learning different languages, traveling, photography, and camping. I don’t have to be specific about any of these because I pretty much enjoy all aspects of them all!
