We're going to bullet point this post, just for funzies
- Happy Tuesday! This past week fleww by. I hung out at an old folks’ home, sorted beads, taught English, held some babies during Sunday school, constantly prayed over the city, and accidentally napped for 2 hours. Also an important detail that must be shared, given that my feet are usually black because who wears shoes on a terrace; pedicures here are $5. $5!
- This coming week is already shaping up differently for us. The consistency of the past two weeks has been nice, but I’m excited for the little change ups! For example, three of our ladies are going to join the women in the recovery program this week. They will work and eat with them, live without technology like them, and only join the rest of us for team time. It’s a cool opportunity to strengthen relationships with the women.
- At the end of this week we’re going to be accompanied by AIM people for 5 days to host a retreat for the women in the program. I’m particularly excited for this, with the slight exception that we’ll be moving 5 extra teammates into our “10 person” apartment. Quotation marks because there are currently 8 bunk beds and my home girl Rachel and I are posted up on mattresses in the living room. I’m under the impression that we’ll throw someone on the couch, maybe someone between Rachel and I, and then the other 3 idk.. between the bunks on sleeping pads maybe? #staytuned For real though, the healing-focused retreat sounds like it’s going to be fire so prayers for it and the participants!
- I’m reading through Psalms & look how rad this is.. Ps. 17:7 “show me the wonders of your great love..” hits different, doesn’t it? I know it can resonate differently for each of us, but it got me pumped. Kind of how the good news is specific to each of us, the wonders of God’s love are revealed uniquely to each of us. God has turned my darkness into light. God’s love has, and continues to redeem me.
- Last night my team of 8 was sharing testimonies and mmmm allow me to share some thoughts. I think some misconceptions of missionaries is that everyone has their life together, is from a Christian family, started following Jesus and never looked back, and has never experienced real pain. None of those perceptions are a common denominator. I’m going to be vague here because these are not my stories to share, but here’s some truth.. Honestly who has their life together? For many of us, God kept throwing his heart for the nations in our path, so much that we couldn’t not go. Some of us are taking time off from college, while others quit their jobs to come serve others. Some of us out here are praying daily that families will come to know the Lord, while others have their parents praying for them at home. Many of us started walking with Jesus and have been steadfast, while others are still trying to find the steady path. And lastly, there are some missionaries here that have had an easy going upbringing, but other missionaries have been attacked and beaten down yet still praise King Jesus. Our God is personal and loves each of us individually. How God loves me may look different from how my teammates are loved by God, but He’s the same God for all of us and it’s so COOL. He meets us where we’re at in every situation. He is capable of using all of our experiences and joys and pains to glorify the kingdom.
- Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you supporters. Prayer and financial donors you are truly gems. You are a huge part of what’s happening here. It’s because of you that I’m getting to love on Colombians, witness miracles, and live out God’s calling.

:-), K
