Minimalism is not my strong suit.
When it comes to packing, I like to be prepared for every possible climate, accident or event. I’m the girl with multiple bags and the suitcase pushing 50 lbs at any bag check. In fact, I’ve had to unload clothes in line just to get under the weight limit more than once.
The idea of putting my year into one backpack seemed daunting in the least. But that’s why the World Race has already been amazing. It’s already pushing me outside my comfort zone, and I haven’t even left.
So after many blogs read, REI visits and online browsing, here’s what’s in my pack…so far.
- The pack itself – 65L Osprey. Mine kept all the weight off my shoulder and front access, which I love!
- Sleeping Pad
- Sleeping Bag – Go synthetic and watch the temp
- Thermarest Pillow
- 2P Tent w/ Footprint
- Sea to Summit Compression Sacks – I got small for my tent and a medium for my sleeping bag.
- Airporter – Stay away from the Osprey one
- Pack Raincover
- Headlamp
- Febreze spray (trust me)
- Wet wipes
- Clothes – 2 skirts, 2 shorts, 2 leggings/pants, jeans, 1 dress, 8 shirts
- Shoes – Running, Chacos, Birks and shower flip flops
- Small toiletries
- Lil bit of makeup (and I mean “lil”)
- Microfiber towel
- Power converter and needed cords
- Kindle
These are some of the things you’ll find in my pack, plus or minus a few things. For those shopping and searching as I did, make sure to stock REI sales and Steep and Cheap (my fave).
