You may have heard this before, ‘we are a witness of Christ.’ But let me dig further to what that means… THIS WILL ROCK YOUR WORLD! I believe that God invades our existence with signs and events to make us ask why….why God? Why is this happening? Where are you God? The event could be good or bad. The biggest example of that is in Acts 2, when the people started speaking in tongues, and they asked, “What does this mean?” Peter stood up. What could have been a scary or confusing moment where there were unanswered questions, Peter stood up. PETER STOOD UP. What did he do, how did he respond? Peter reflected on what he heard in scripture, he explained how God was in the situation and their eyes were open. My question for you is will you stand up? There are people out there, no matter where, around your work, in your family, around the country, outside the country, people you meet on the street, asking that question… “God what does this mean?” If YOU do NOT stand up and answer their questions, show how God is in the middle of what they are going through, they walk away lost and confused. When they spoke in tongues and Peter revealed truth in the situation, THAT was being a witness.
There are two things in people’s lives that they can not control. One, their past, everyone has a past. Two, their passions. If we do not stand up and show the hope that is held in Christ, then they will be stuck in their past and passions. They won’t know that the compulsion to do evil can be broken (passion). They wont know that their past can be redeemed and restored. That is the reason why the Holy Spirit came, to KICK US OUT OF OUR PIT of despair, give us a hope that ONLY exists in Christ. The Holy Spirit enables us to get out of our pit. However, the Holy Spirit did not come until Jesus was resurrected. Act in the Holy Spirit, and then you will be proof that the resurrection happened, BE THAT WITNESS. When we refuse to walk in that, when we refuse to stand up, we are not acting in the power of the resurrection. We are telling people that Jesus is NOT alive. Is Jesus alive in you? Will you stand up and be the answer to people’s questions?
