Missy

She’s from Waconia, MN

Like me, she grew up with horses and agriculture, in 4-H, knowing what hard work really means, etc…

She went to school (at UM Crookstan) for Agronomy and graduated about a year ago, when God called her to ‘GO!’ She came across the World Race and got placed on team Rayos with me for the first stretch of the race in January.

From the cooking experiments with her electrical coil water heater, to killing cockroaches, climbing mountains, to nerding out about plants together, building stone benches, and building trust- in each other, in other teammates, and in God….

Missy has been a huge part of my life in the past few months and I just wanted to highlight that.

January- El Salvador:

-Being the first on our team to step up and volunteer to give her testimony to strangers

-Experiments with the meals (when having no stove, refridgerator, oven, or microwave- on $4/day/person)…that rice…..
February- Guatemala:

-Sharing the secret of a tree in our back yard that was easy to climb and had a great sitting spot at the top. Great to get away during all squad month.

-Following the Holy Spirit and me in praying for God to heal a widow’s feet.

March- Honduras:

-Building that stone bench. The patience, the pushing, and the encouragement.

-All the physical labor and garden knowledge, that I couldn’t have lived without this month.

-Encouraging creativity, can always count on her to give it her all

April- Nicaragua:

-tirelessly chasing and playing with the children- always

-an unstoppable goalie in handball

-Swimming in the nastiest lake I ever have seen, and not getting dieseases from it.

May- Panama:

-Sitting on the rooftop of our hotel looking out over Panama City and the stars. Talking about life, and challenges, and new teams, and home, and Jesus, and probably tractors, and plants, and country music 🙂 Miss Her.

Mel Jo

She’s from Rhode Island. It’s a state- its NOT part of New York. She has two older sisters and a younger brother- shares similar experiences with me being that middle child :). She studied music in college and lived in Nashville, TN before deciding to go on the World Race.

She’s sarcastic and witty, yet so warm and welcoming. She’s friends with anyone instantly. She knows the write questions to ask, and she asks them, and she listens.

She cares about relationships deeply.

We’ve had numerous rap jam sessions, she’s taught me more about guitar, she even let me help her write a song. I’ve spent a couple months carrying her via piggy back because she broke her toe, cried about nothing with her, laughed about everything with her, and developed one great friendship.

During our month 4 debrief I spent a lot of time with her. I was sad realizing she wasn’t going to be on my team anymore, I didn’t really know how much I had grown to trust and rely on her. I trust and feel loved most by people who trust and love me- and I have no doubts about this girl!

She is now a team leader on the beautiful team of ladies called Las Libradoras. I still enjoy how much she is willing to confide in me, and make me commuincate with her (I’m terrible at long distance communication).

Please consider donating to one or both of my dear friends!

Missy is currently at: $11,142

Mel Jo is currently at: $12,987

They both need to meet the amount of $14,250 by July 1st, or they will have to face leaving the mission field earlier than planned.

Thanks for reading! Prayers for my entire squad fundraising are appreciated as well!
