So far, I have had two people tell me that they wish I would not go. They fear for my safety and they say if they could find a way to keep me from going, they would. One of them printed me out a list of all the countries that currently have travel warnings for them.
"Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a county dangerous or unstable lead the State Department to recommend that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A Travel Warning is also issued when the U.S. Government's ability to assist American citizens is constrained due to the closure of an embassy or consulate or because of a drawdown of its staff." Two of the countries we are going to be in have been issued travel warnings: Honduras and El Salvador.
Both countries are on the list because crime and violence levels are critically high, and it is difficult to get help to those who may be in trouble.
Please be in prayer for these countries. We want to bring the love of Jesus there, to see lives transforrned, and to serve them like Jesus. I pray these nations experience the amazing power of God.
