Hello Everybody!
I have been sitting here trying to figure out how to put into words the enormous shift that has taken place in my life. Almost everything I expected to happen in my life by now has not happened. In fact, since January of this year, I would say that God has taken me through a season of endings. What I have discovered through this process is that “God can take a conclusion and turn it into an introduction.”
And so, as things have been coming to an end, the Lord has been leading my life in a much different but amazing direction. In January 2014, I will be saying goodbye to work as a Physical Therapist and going on an 11-month journey to Central and South America. I will be joining up with a company called Adventures in Missions (AIM) on The World Race to travel to 11 countries in 11 months. I will be introduced to the move of God in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. While in each country, my team will meet up with churches, missionaries, orphanages and offer them our services to do whatever they need – planting churches, doing construction, playing with children, running VBS, praying for people, etc.
Please take the opportunity to join me in this amazing journey ahead. First, I will always need a ton of prayer, more than anything. While God has filled me a sense of peace and certainty in doing this, it is probably just as scary as it is exciting for me. Second, if you would like to follow my preparations and travels, I have started a blog at kathryngarcia.theworldrace.org. You will be able to pray specifically as I follow the Lord day by day. Lastly, if God leads you to support this mission financially, I want to let you know how to do that. This trip will cost me $14,285, which in the grand scheme of year-long travel expenses is not so much, but that one big lump sum can appear daunting.
I know that God has such amazing stuff in store! I believe God is going to change my life and transform the lives of the people to whom He sends me.
