Greetings!

Just typing up a quick blog update to say hello to everyone at home.

So Hello!

We have a week and a half left here in Cambodia working in Hope Orphanage.
Each day looks something like this:

6am                 Run
8am-12pm     Hanging with the kids and eating lunch together
12pm-2pm     Team worship/Bible study and hopefully a 30 min NAP!
2pm-4pm        Back with the kids again
After this we have team time (feedback), walk to the near by mall to find food, and then sleep!!

I’ve started going to bed around 830 sometimes, yikes! But all this traveling, walking around, and heat really wears you out! Not to mention all the emotions of the World Race, yikes to that too! It’s definitely a year of emotion overload. As we approach the HALF WAY point in a few weeks, I’m feeling drained. But I’m still constantly thankful for this experience, and especially the people I’ve gotten to experience it all with. These World Racers are some of the weirdest, craziest, most loving people. We do this thing called feedback almost every night, where you positively and constructively ‘feedback’ each person in order to encourage and grow them into the awesomest version of themselves. At first I thought it was a pain, but now it’s pretty great and a really cool way to grow.

Aside from that, we have found a movie theatre!!!! $2 for a movie and $1.50 for popcorn, it’s SUCH a treat! and for those of you who know me well, you know I love a great deal 🙂 We’ve seen two movies now (Hunger Games and Avengers….love the Hulk!) and both times I walk out of the movie confused that I’m not at home in America.

This weekend we went to the Killing Fields. There was a genocide in Cambodia about 30 yrs ago and 3 million people were killed over the course of 4 years. All because Pol Pot wanted to turn this country into communist farming  land. So he started killing off everyone who was educated or lived in cities or basically just anyone he wanted to, and a lot of that happened at these killing fields.

On a happier note than that, our team has raised almost $2000 for the orphanage! Friday was a really special day, Justin and I went with the Ruthy (orphanage owner) to buy 3 months worth of rice ($450), mosquito nets for the kids beds, and pay off a portion of the rent. Since then, even more money has been donated so we plan to make another trip this week! Thank you to everyone who has helped out.  I love seeing all these kids every morning and hearing…’Sista! Video!!’  because now they are obsessed with watching Disney movies on our laptops in the rainy afternoons (and I have to admit I love it too, who knew Ice Age was so funny!? gotta love that little squirrel and his acorn).

We fly to Malaysia June 1st!
Dear home, friends, and family.. I miss you!!! But I love where I am too. I can’t wait until heaven when all the people I love can be in ONE place together worshiping God and living in joy!
