I’m in love with this month! We are only one week in and it’s quickly becoming my favorite. First off, Nepal is the most uniquely beautiful country I’ve been to. And there are amazing things to do on our free days! All of the buildings have so much character. The women here are stunning and dress in bright colors. There are mountains surrounding us. The air is fresh. And there are yellow flowers everywhere! They use them for some sort of lotion or oil.

What I am most excited about this month is our ministry. While last month was one of my slowest months, this month is one of the busiest! We are up at 6am and going going going until around 7pm each weekday. This month my team of 5 girls is living in Asha Nepal in a home for women and children rescued from sex trafficking. The ministry began in 1999, rescuing women from Nepal and India helping them become self sufficient and back on their feet.
We are tutoring children with HIV who are not allowed in the public school. Leading morning devotions for the kids and daily women’s Bible studies. We also have set aside time each day for helping the women with house/ministry chores and being playmates for the attention hungry kids. Today we took a zillion kids to the pool, and last night they put on a talent show for us. I am already falling in love with them, and this month is inevitably going to be another heartbreaking goodbye. I knew this from the moment a little girl ran up to me for a kiss on the lips, an ‘I love you’, and then passed out in my lap drooling all over me. But she was just too cute to wake up and I’ve had way worse things on me than a little slobber this year.

One thing that I could do without, here in Nepal, is all the ‘loogie hocking’. Everybody does it, especially the women! Also, the Indian food tastes incredible, but spicy curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner is killing my stomach!! On the plus side, it fills the air with amazing smells; the whole country smells of curry, spices, and tea! The country is primarily Hindu; the people look fascinating and there are areas for worship and Hindu god statues all over the place.

A few of us took a plane ride around the Himalayas to see Mount Everest.
Amazing!
God really knew what he was doing when he made those mountains. Short video so you can see Everest too!
