I am leaving the continent of Asia behind and heading into the unknown of Africa. I am ready to leave Asia and to see something different. I have enjoyed Asia, and the people are different in each country but I am ready for something completely different.   It almost feels like I am starting a new race because of how significant the change will be.   These last few months I knew what to expect in regards to the people and landscape, but now I have no idea.

Eight years ago when I was in Africa I never would have dreamed I would be going back. I will be seeing a different part of Africa, a part of Africa that is full of sadness. My first country that I am going to is Rwanda and I will be staying in the capital city. The temperature looks to be cooler than Thailand so praise God for that; of course there will be more bugs but it’s a give take sort of thing. I do not know exactly what I will be doing, and it sounds like it will be a wide variety of ministry-service projects, construction, and (my favourite…not) preaching. I would appreciate your prayers in regards to preaching as African services are quite long and I barely could pull off a 20 minute sermon. Any ideas for a sermon please let me know-it sounds like some could have to be several hours long!

I am looking forward to spending time with the Africans-they are amazing people who can teach us a lot. I am excited and nervous of course, and I am guessing God will be doing a lot of amazing things while we are in Africa. Things that I never dreamed of-it will be interesting to see what they are when all is said and done.

I do not know what my internet will be like; supposedly we have it but it might be dial up. If you do not hear from me for a while that is why-who knows what things will look like these next three months. Remember, no news is good news so do not worry about me when I don’t post a blog or don’t call. Thanks for your continued prayers, I appreciate them and need them.

Prayer Request:

1.       Team unity

2.       My health: lots of carbs in Africa and people like to honour you with food so I can’t really turn things down. Please pray that they understand why I do turn something down if I have to. Also for energy, against malaria and any other sickness.

3.       Safety for ourselves and our personal belongings (I know they are just stuff, but it’s all I got for a year- I’d be especially sad if my kindle was stolen).

4.       Spiritual warfare

As the song from the World Cup Games says: “This time for Africa, This time for Africa, We’re all Africa, We’re all Africa.”

You’re a good soldier
Choosing your battles
Pick yourself up
And dust yourself off
Get back in the saddle

You’re on the front line
Everyone’s watching
You know it’s serious
We are getting closer
This isn’t over

The pressure is on
You feel it
But you got it all
Believe it

When you fall get up, oh oh
If you fall get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
Cuz this is Africa
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa

Listen to God
This is our motto
Your time to shine
Don’t wait in line
Y vamos por todo

People are raising
Their expectations
Go on and feed them
This is your moment
No hesitations

Today’s your day
I feel it
You paved the way
Believe it

If you get down get up, oh oh
When you get down get up, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
Anawa a a
Tsamina mina, eh eh
Waka waka, eh eh
Tsamina mina zangalewa
This time for Africa

(2x) This time for Africa

(2x) We’re all Africa

God is leading our battle into this country, and satan will not get us down. We will fight back, and get up if he tries. Nothing will stop us as we go into Africa- God is on our side.
